Timeline: Directly after meeting Cosette in person for the first time, or if you want to pick a speciic musical song, 'A Heart Full of Love'.

Personality: TRAITS NOTES
- he starts off not...closed-minded but he has a closed off world and as soon as it opens up beyond the bourgeois place his grandpa raised him he becomes voracious to learn about a wealth of different subjects (first he's like LET ME LEARN ABOUT FRANCE MY DAD WHAT A D BAG and then once he finds out his dad's backstory from the priest hes like HOW ABOUT THAT MILITARY HISTORY) so i guess he's...eager to find out about the world around him, and passionate - shown by both this and his passionate nostrils (the hell)
- he's not really a homebody bc he doesn't spend a lot of time at home at his grandpa's house he'd rather be WEEPING OVER HIS DAD'S GRAVE
- he's easily influenced/moved by events in his life and his opinions can be swayed dramatically depending on if the event moves him or not (re: his dad and France, his dad and Thenardier esp re: the robbery scene with Javert and Valjean, Cosette vs the Revolution)
- in touch with his emotions and is not afraid (in a sense) to show them - book: he goes to weep over his father's grave on a regular basis, even after he's been dead a long time, musical: IN MY LIFE SHE HAS BURST LIKE THE MUSIC OF ANGELS THE LIGHT OF THE SUN!!!!
- once he has an ideal (if it doesn't get swayed by some event in his life first) he sticks to it with a passion (he was going to become a lawyer, so that's a good trait) - he starts an argument w/ Enjolras re: Republicanism vs Bonapartism the one time he goes to a meeting of Les Amis
- he's easygoing and even if he's fought with someone or hurt someone he manages to stay close to them and care about them (still cares about courfeyrac + les amis and remains good friends with them after the disaster of a meeting), EPONINE
- when he's focused on something he can be a bit...o b l i v i o u s and also he has a tendency to react dramatically and in great sweeps when his ideals are defied (EPONINE'S SAD LIFE, then later on when valjean is going to spirit him and cosette away to france when marius is like OH NO LIFE WITHOUT COSETTE?? CANT DO THAT TIME TO REVOLUTION GUESS I'LL GO DIE W/ MY FRIENDS)
- //HUMBLE// to a fault, esp in regards to money - his aunt sends him money every month but he refuses it and sends it back, lives in a shoddy apt and does translating from german and english to make $ (I think Courfeyrac suggests this to him??? read further)
- Marius, in musical canon, has shown to be an excitable young man in body language at the least to the point of appearing overeager or clumsy - he's got overexuberant smiles in the film version as well as his lovestruck wandering in 'In My Life' with Eponine, and in one notable instance, a Marius fell out of a tree while trying to climb over Cosette's garden gate so he could be there faster)

Abilities: Being from a historically based canon, Marius doesn't really have any amazing supernatural talents. For a man of his time, he's learned and is clearly always ready to learn more. He speaks French, German and English and can also write/translate between these three languages. He knows how to shoot a gun. He was also studying to be a lawyer back home.
